    This happens to be another 1863 with fantastic die cracking. Since I found the discovery coin a few months ago, David Poliquin was able to find three additional die states! Incredible. The latest die state has an internal CUD, the first I’ve ever seen on an IHC. The filled-in area on the reverse of the last die state may appear to be a very thick crack. However, the progression shows us that numerous small die cracks formed a rectangular interior die break, and that rectangle eventually fell out or gradually deteriorated into a CUD.

    Nice to see progression of die states–27C is pretty cool! 😀 Chunks of the rev die look like they’re shifting around–maybe a higher grade example will be found…
