Here’s another example of how the default settings on your camera can produce some really lousy coin pictures:
First, the seller’s picture. By default, most cameras over-sharpen, over-emphasize color variation, and make the coin look too light.
And here’s a new picture I just did. By carefully adjusting the lighting angle, you will find a compromise between resolved details and colors–more believable and closer to what is seen:
