Variety Summary

The fields inside the lower loops of both 8’s are uneven. The repunching inside the loops of the second 8 are not evident on the plate specimen, but the two die scratches in the hair-curls helps identify this variety. There are a couple of die lines inside the lower loop of the first 8. The repunching is extremely minor and most likely only visible on high-grade, well struck specimens.

This die variety has always been noted for the repunched date, and the misplaced date wasn’t listed until November 2015. The MPD-002 was originally a duplicate listing in Flynn (1997), and so has been reassigned.
