Variety Summary

During late January 2015, Ed Nathanson kindly submitted the plate coin for inclusion in this book. It was initially brought to my attention by Ed, who mentioned the repunching.

In addition to the repunching on the 4, the obverse may also exhibit the digit punch anomaly that is seen throughout 1864. Since the plate coin was damaged, I could see only the die chip in front of the 4 and not the remaining features of the digit punch anomaly. In order to confirm the presence of the digit punch anomaly, a problem free example must be found.
