Variety Summary

The date punch, or the matrix that made them, degraded in this year. The degredation is most evident by the 4 in the date, and is very noticable. The differences in the defective date punches in 1864 are enough to make varieties of the specimens on which they occur.

Additional Notes

Obverse

Broken digit punch most evident on the western side of the 4. The eastern side of the 1 appears broken. There are die lines running to the northeast from the denticles and the digits in the date. Broken ES hub.

Reverse
