Variety Summary

This die was also used to strike proofs. As with DDO-002, the doubling on USA is mainly seen on the upper half of USA. It was reported that collectors lined up around the block in order to get the new coinage. This was the start of collecting fever.

Obverse

Class I, Rotated Hub Doubling CCW.
Doubling shows as a CCW spread on the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, eagle’s eye, and beak.

Die crack from the rim to the E of STATES. LDS specimens show a die cud R of AMERICA.

Reverse

EDS - Die crack from rim at 9 o'clock to the wreath. LDS Die crack above go back to the rim at 11 o'clock. Die crack from the rim at 1 o'clock through the wreath, back to the rim at 3 o'clock.
