Have a nice fall with 33 new varieties! – UPDATE: Nov 12th, 2015

Happy Fall!

Happy Fall!

November 12th: I discovered that the listings for 1884 Indian Head Cents contained several errors, so I have corrected them. Two varieties were missing, so there are a total of 10 known varieties for 1884. Here are my notes:

  • 1884 MPD-001 and MPD-002 were found to be duplicate listings.
  • There are misplaced digits on 1884 RPD-001, but they have never been noted. This variety is now correctly listed as 1884 MPD-002, RPD-001. Check it out!
  • Two MPDs were missing from the online listings. They have been added as 1884 MPD-005 and 1884 MPD-006.
  • What was listed as MPD-005 because of the two missing MPDs is now correctly labeled 1884 MPD-007.
  • Errors in cross-referencing and attribution are fixed.

November 5th: The database has been updated with 33 new varieties! Many of them are cuds, but there are also new repunched dates, rusted dies, and other odd die varieties. Some of the photos are not yet online, but about 30-40 existing varieties have had their images added to their online listing.

Site Improvements and 46 New Varieties

Wow, 46 nice varieties have surfaced in the last couple of months. We have pictures of 31 of them, assembled below. The most notable might be the 1866 COL-001, RPD-005, which features the first ever attributed broken collar. Photos for approximately 60 known varieties have been added, too.

Also, I have coded several improvements on the back-side to help with searching, sorting, and collecting. Please view the tutorial video to learn more about using the website.

  • You can now search by Snow and Poliquin number, like 1888 S1 or 1898 P38.
  • Listings updated to include all Snow varieties as of the most recent Longacre Ledger (not yet pictured on this site)
  • Listings updated to include all David Poliquin varieties as of 7-10-2015 (all are pictured here on this site)
  • Default search result order is now sorted by variety name.
  • Added sub-categories for 1858 small and large letters; 1864 CN, L, No-L; 1865 Fancy and Plain 5; 1873 Open and Closed 3; and 1886 Type I and II
  • Added tags to varieties that appear in the Top Variety and match sets

New Varieties are a Flood

I’ve added 18 new varieties, all with pictures, from David Poliquin’s site at www.indiancentvarieties.com. A special thanks to David for spreading the wealth of knowledge.

A couple of my favorites are the 1898 with die rust, the 1880 with heavy cracking and a new punch variety, several cuds and oddities. Check them out!

Plenty more where that came from, so keep checking back. We have around 30 new varieties to attribute when I get the time. Happy hunting!
